My review on the Fosi Audio V3 Mono

My review on the Fosi Audio V3 Mono - Fosi Audio

This is an unbiased novice review on a pair of brand-new V3 monoblock amplifiers that Fosi Audio graciously sent me recently.

The Preamplifier/DAC being used is a WIIM Ultra.
The speakers used to test with are a pair of Definitive Technology Pro Cinema ProMonitor800 and a Definitive Technology ProSub600.

All testing was done using Tidal Streaming via Wiim Ultra after a 10 hour burn in period.

The music used for testing comes from a wide range of artists and genres, including high-quality recordings by Rush, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Grateful Dead, The Doors, and many others. It also includes obscure but equally well-recorded music with great depth and acoustical imagery, such as Atlanta Space Quartet. Check them out; I highly recommend them.

The speakers are placed front and center, about 8 feet apart, with the powered subwoofer on the floor to the right of the right channel speaker. The Promonitors are head level, toed inward and slightly downward, aiming them directly toward the listening position, about 8 feet from a reclined sitting position with a solid wall directly at the rear. The floors are hardwood with 15 ft. tray ceilings.

The comparison setup consists of the same speaker arrangement but utilizing a Dayton Audio DTA Pro 100 Bluetooth DAC/Amplifier, and an Alexa Echo Dot 1st generation streaming the same music via Tidal.

I have spent much time on speaker positioning to get each component dialed in precisely to what seems to provide the sweet spot for a perfect music-listening session.

While I thought what I have been listening to for the last two years sounded great—and don't get me wrong, it does to me—this is in no way a knock on Dayton Audio. Also, this is not an apples-to-apples comparison other than both scenarios involved the same speaker setup.

However, once I implemented the Fosi Audio V3s into the mix along with the Wiim Ultra, WOW is all I can say. It is truly night and day. I am amazed at how much the V3 monos improved the sound quality and clarity. The sound stage was dramatically improved and made the music sound as if it was coming from 4 times the simple 2.1 channel setup.
I heard instruments that didn't stand out previously. And the room was full of musical bliss that was much more pronounced. The soundstage became wider and more vivid than before. There was an added punch in the mids. The highs were extra crisp and accurate and the bass was smooth and well intermingled.

I only had to crank the volume about ¼ compared to using the Dayton Audio to get to the same loudness. I did test for a few minutes at higher volumes and there was zero distortion but it got LOUD. The Fosi Audio V3 monoblocks did run pretty hot but never had any issues whatsoever.

I am working on a project to fully restore a set of JBL L100Ts with upgraded T3 crossovers that were recently professionally recapped, cleaned, and tested. I cannot wait to pair them with the Fosi Audio V3 monoblocks. I am sure to be blown away again because of the Fosi Audio V3 monoblocks' cost and the quality power they can easily divvy out.

I recommend that anyone looking for a well-built, clean, power-providing, and highly affordable "Audiophile" spec’d monoblock amplifier consider the Fosi Audio V3. I do not think you will be disappointed.
