Merak is built around a professional-grade CD mechanism and servo system that ensures highly accurate disc reading and long-term playback stability. This precision allows the player to deliver true gapless playback, eliminating pauses between tracks and preserving the natural continuity of live recordings and classical compositions.

To further enhance reliability, the system integrates Electronic Skip Protection (ESP), which minimizes playback interruptions caused by vibration or movement. The top-loading design, paired with a clip-style disc holder, reduces physical wear compared to slot-loading systems while maintaining a more deliberate and tactile interaction with your music.

High-Performance Audio Architecture

At the heart of Merak is a carefully engineered audio architecture built around the CS43131 DAC and TPA6120 headphone amplifier. This combination enables the system to achieve a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 124 dB and a total harmonic distortion as low as 0.0009%, ensuring a clean and highly transparent sound with excellent detail retrieval.

The headphone output delivers 210 milliwatts per channel at 32 ohms, providing enough power to drive headphones ranging from 16 to 300 ohms while maintaining clarity and control. Meanwhile, the line output offers a standard level of at least 2Vrms, allowing seamless integration with external amplifiers or powered speakers without compromising signal integrity.

Digital Transport Capability

Beyond its internal decoding capabilities, Merak can function as a dedicated CD transport for external DAC systems. Through its optical output, the player delivers a bit-perfect 16-bit/44.1kHz CD signal, bypassing internal DAC processing to preserve the original audio data.

This output is supported by a high-precision, low-jitter clock design that ensures accurate timing and signal stability, making it an ideal source component for users building a more advanced HiFi system.

Connectivity & System Integration

Merak is designed to integrate effortlessly into a wide range of audio environments. It supports both CD playback and USB input, while offering multiple output options including a 3.5mm headphone output, a line-level output for amplifiers or active speakers, an optical digital output for external DACs, and a 12V trigger output for synchronized power control with other devices.

This level of connectivity allows Merak to function equally well as a standalone desktop player or as part of a larger home audio system, adapting to different listening scenarios with ease.

CD Ripping & USB Playback

Merak extends beyond playback by offering built-in CD ripping functionality, allowing users to convert their physical collection into digital files with a single operation. The system extracts audio directly from CDs and saves it as uncompressed WAV files at 16-bit/44.1kHz, preserving the original sound quality without any loss.

For USB playback, the device supports drives up to 128GB and is compatible with a wide range of audio formats, including MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, APE, and WMA. The ripping function supports FAT32-formatted USB drives with capacities up to 32GB, ensuring stable performance during file transfer and storage.

Merak combines performance with usability through a set of thoughtful design features. A high-contrast OLED display provides clear visibility of playback status, track information, and timing, while the system automatically stops playback when the lid is opened to prevent potential disc damage.

Users can easily switch between four playback modes—play once, repeat one, repeat all, and shuffle—using either the onboard controls or the included remote, making operation intuitive and convenient in everyday use.
