Having recently setup a Pro-Ject T1 SB turntable to go alongside some of my Sonos speakers, which includes an in-built pre-amp, I noticed a lack of depth to the sound output and in particular, a lack of volume available through the speakers.
Having done some research on external 3rd party MM preamps, including Pro-Ject's own products, I found some good reviews of the Fosi Audio X2 Phono Preamp, so ordered it yesterday and it arrived by 10:00 this morning (Amazon at their finest! lol).

Let me start by saying I'm a music enthusiast, not an audiophile. I care about good sound, but I don't get bogged down in fancy jargon or expensive gadgets. That's why I was excited to give a try to the MC101 amp – it promised solid performance without the frills.
Built to last, designed to please
First impression? The MC101 feels sturdy and well-made. The metal knobs and classic switches give it a timeless look, and the VU meter adds a touch of vintage charm. Plus, the binding posts and RCA inputs are secure, so you know your connections are solid.

The Fosi is much quieter but still does make a little noise depending on music and listening volume, overall much better than the Douk and acceptable. When it comes to functionality they are about the same but the Fosi is much better looking and has a better remote. I hear no audible noise or distortion when listening. One thing I have noticed is that I loose a few Db when going through the LC30, I have to turn the gain up just a little more to get the same output.
