love it, great balanced sound, visually fits my syst4em perfectly and all the convivence of a remote made this a no brainer to replace my existing K7 in my stack to allow its use for a more modest setup.

I buy this (AKM chp) DAC/headphone amplifier to bypass the poor implementation from ESS DAC chp from my WiiM Ultra Steamer. I use it also with my FiiO FT1 Hi-Fi Headphones (because I am cheap) and it is a banger. The sound is full and more natural. I love what Fosi did with this powerful tiny tool.

Finally got my Fosi Audio ZH3. By the way, incredibly fast shipping. I'm impressed! And I can definitely hear the extended range in both the highs and lows, especially in the sub-bass compared to my previous DAC. I'm also loving the bass and tone controls, and the analog filters are a killer feature. I've been able to dial in a warmer, more tube-like sound from the box, exactly what I prefer, compared to the drier, more analytical sound from my previous DAC/AMP. Great work, Fosi!

Very versatile unit and the price for such quality is flabbergasting. I decided to get a second unit to do proper blind side by side op amp testing. Extremely happy with all of my Fosi gear

Der Fosi Audio ZH3 DAC hat den ZD3 abgelöst, weil er einen Kopfhöreranschluss hat.
Als Verstärker dient ein Fosi Audio ZA3. Quellen sind einCambrige MX10 Netwerkplayer, ein TEAX PD-301 CD-Player mit DAB+ Radio und der PC (mit Youtube usw.).
Der ZH3 DAC erfüllt alle meine Ansprüche voll und der Klang über zwei Regalboxen DALI Oberon 1 ist hervorragend! So habe ich perfekten Sound an meinem Homeoffice Schreibtisch und auch die Bearbeitung von Musikdateien macht wirklich viel Freude.
Der ersetzte ZD3 bekommt seinen Platz nun im Hobbaraum im Keller, zusammen mit einem Fosi Audio BT20A Pro Verstärker und zwei älteren Technics Regalboxen. Auch da liefert ein Cambridge MXN10 Netzplayer den Sound, bisher mit RCA mit dem Verstärker direkt verbunden, neu jedoch unter Nutzung des DAC ZD3, der gleichzeitig für die Lautstärkeregelung per Fernbedienung dient. Auch da ist der Klang hervorragend. Ein weiterer ZD3 liefert den Sound im Wohnzimmer via Campridge Stereoanlage (mit AXN Netzplayer, CD-Player und DALO Oberon 7 Boxen. Perfekter HiFi-Genuss auch dank den Fosi Audio DACs (alle aufgerüstet mit Sarkos OPOs).

I have the Fosi ZH3 connected to my P4 pre-amp and I'm very impressed with the high sound quality this pair produces on my headphones. The ZH3 delivers enough power to drive the FiiO FT3 headphones @ 350 ohms, the volume it reaches is more than enough for music enjoyment. I upgraded the stock OP amps to the Muses02, since the specs on the Muses are better than most stock OP amps. The tone control is always a feature that I'm up for and I appreciate Fosi for including tone controls on a lot of its products. I don't use the ZH3 as a DAC since I have quite a few portable DAC/Amps and I like changing the DAC source to try different sound flavors. With the ZH3, Fosi Audio has delivered another fantastic and budget friendly product. Cheers!

First of all, I’d give a 5 if I have other DAC to compare with but unfortunately I do not. With that note, I primarily use the ZH3 for both headphone and active speaker listening for my computer setup. I was amazed with the detail and imagery that it can output. I used Dune 2 HD as my test bed as I ended up watching the entire movie again after hearing foot steps and wind blowing with crystal clear clarity in various scenes. Nonetheless, I highly recommend if anyone wants to upgrade their computer audio setup.

Fosi Audio ZH3 DAC Headphone Amp

I switched to the Fosi Audio ZH3 from the iFi Nano iDSD. I find the sound quality to be similar (both are good devices). The Fosi Audio ZH3 provides more output options. I specifically bought the Fosi Audio ZH3 for the XLR output. The Fosi Audio ZH3 also provides a better interface, and more reliable outputs. The remote control is an additional convenience.

I run the Fosi Audio ZH3 on Linux Mint 22.3 (kernel 7.0). It was detected and operational automatically.

The Fosi Audio ZH3 has a few minor issues. It appears to enter some type of low power state quickly (after about 10 seconds without audio output). When audio is started, the first half-second of audio will be dropped. It can be a little bit annoying. This does appear to be an issue with some other DACs, but was not an issue with thte ifi nano DAC on the same system. But you can workaround this by running a silent audio output constantly in the background.

I also have an issue where audio will drop randomly during playback. It is fairly rare and maybe happens once or twice per day. I have not seen others complain about it. It may be specific to my computer, or specific to my ZH3.

This is my (I think) my fifth dedicated headphone amp, and I think it's my favourite. I use the built in DAC most of the time (optical), and the various filters and tone controls make it possible to customize the sound to my hearing profile (especially as I get older).

Impressed with the sound quality improvement for both headphones and speakers, compared to just using the motherboard audio output it's much nicer and fuller sounding now. Linear frequency response, or you can add some basic low/high shelf EQ for a few dB if you want (onboard EQ), which is very useful to adjust headphone bass to your liking. This EQ circuit can be totally bypassed too, if desired, and it only works on the headphone outputs, not speakers. Negatives, I noticed that the amp sometimes forgets my settings for auto-off and auto-LCD display dimming, but it's a minor thing not affecting the sound at all. Overall happy with the purchase.

It was a little confusing for a second cos I dont read manuals but its pretty self intuitive. It's really opened up my headphone clarity and I like how it saves the volume setting. It's a really good price for the quality. I'm glad AP Mastering for me onto this!

Great DAC and headphone amp. Would love to have switchable control over speaker volume as well. That would make it perfect for me. Can't complain about the quality though. Highly recommended.

Previously using the headphone out from Audiant id24 into Hifi man Sundara planar mag headphones. Id 24 just not driving the headphones. Zh3 totally transforms the sound in these headphones especially while mixing. The sound stage and details come to life.
Deffo recommend.

Great sound and price, easy to use and soundly built!

Great build quality and small footprint that packs a punch! I’ve tried other models from different companies that cost more and the minute I plugged in to the ZH3 the sound quality was apparent. Currently using the HD 490 Pro and Xenns Tea Pro with the ZH3. Strong enough for the HD 490 with plenty to spare and also great to use with sensitive IEMS. If you’re looking at buying the ZH3, you won’t regret it!

I enjoy vinyl and cds mostly but wanted good quality streaming. I am using the ZH3 mainly as a DAC. I connected an older MacBook Pro, using USB C, to the FOSI. XLR cables of good quality connect the FOSI to an older very good ROTEL amp, then KEF speakers. Now able to stream higher res audio. Excellent full sound and sound stage. I’m very pleased with the Fosi. I found the ZH3 used as a headphone amp worked well also. The filters allow subtle adjustments to the sound.

I am no expert but really enjoy the ease of use through the remote control to adjust the sound!

Using it for Mixing and Mastering

Love the display, you can actually see the Volume by Numbers to help make a group of songs the same Volume at the Mastering Stage.
Can also switch between Studio Monitors and Headphones so easily.
