Since the launch of the V3, we have received numerous valuable feedback and suggestions from users about the pre-out feature：

The pre out is a bypass of the RCA input I believe. So it is a stereo signal. Summing the left and right channels with a Y-adapter is usually a bad thing to do. It might cause a problem. I would use a proper summing adapter for the best performance and reliability.

The 3.5mm "pre-out" connection also really isn’t a preamp out as you'd normally think of one, where the output is modulated by the volume control. It’s a fixed output and while it might be useful to daisy chain your RCA input to a second V3

To add... The 3.5mm pre-out is not a real pre-out. It is just a pass through. It will not control the volume of other devices in the chain.

There is one possible sour note for the Fosi Audio V3 for certain usages, lacking a proper amped subwoofer to test the veracity of a Kickstarter commenter, it is reported that the pre-out on the V3 is actually a fixed-level line out.

On the back are standard RCA inputs and five-way binding posts with a pre-out. I noted that the pre-out is not controlled by the volume knob, it’s just a pass-through, and it is NOT a sub-out.
