Fosi Audio ZH3 DAC Headphone Amp

As a casual listener, I was looking for a way to get more power and clarity from my Hifiman Edition XS and the Fosi Audio i5 without breaking the bank. The Fosi Audio ZH3 looks nice, feature-rich and well-built for its price point. With flac files from my PC via the USB-C input, I compared both headphones using the 4.4mm balanced output. The ZH3 has a clean and neutral sound signature. The bass was feels warm and full, with a wider sound stage using the Hifiman compared to the i5. I suggest you include a better 12V power adapter as it does make a lot of difference on both headphones.

I am passionate about music and audio. I have been buying and testing Fosi equipment for some time now, and I am delighted and excited. I like each new product more and more, and I eagerly await their new releases.
In this case, the ZH3 complements the rest of the Z series equipment I already own, and now I have a set that makes my speakers sound wonderful.

What Fosi has done with the ZH3 is a game changer and going to change the whole market of Dac/Amp combo.You can get op-amps and change the sound profile to suite your taste of sound on top of that they give u filters to shape the sound you hear to fit your need ..If that is not enough you can switch it to Bypass mode now you got the AKM Dac in pure raw, unfilter,uncolor sound..I know some of you reading this will not agree with me but you really need for this burn in and let your ears adjust to it.. with my hearing i notice a difference after 50hrs.. When i first started the sound to me was closed in and slight congested ,viel sound.. then afer 50hrs all of that went away its very spacious,life like soundstage.I am using Hifiman edition XS and Hifiman sundara headphones it makes them sound amazing.. I just now replace the factory op-amps with SS3602 Dual Discrete Op Amp from sparkos labs..now they do need 30hrs of burn in time when they do OMG!!!! the sound is so close to being a live performace everything sounds rich,full detail muscial Its the perfect match for the AKM DAC and how fosi build the ZH3. I promise you if you get the ZH3 and you find the sound to be ok i urge you and highly recommed you to get the SS3602 Dual Discrete Op Amp.. its a simple and easy switch it took me 1mint to do mine. then give it 30hrs of play time then you will hear some of the very best music you ever heard in long time .. Thank you Fosi for giving us people who are budget audiofile products.. The price of the unit and the performance u get is spot on.. Im not bs you ether with these headphones combine with Fosi ZH3 with Sparkos SS3602 you would swear you was listing to a product that was over $500.. dont be fooled by the 2.5watts its the strongest. cleanest and dyanmic watts you ever heard Now for the Cons of the unit .. When you using the output if you use LO or Lineout the volume is program to be at 99 which is max volume so becareful you dont kill something .. you can use Aux output and have volume control on the ZH3 .. Second con is when you are using the XLR it has a built in kill switch to cut off all the filters, tone controls , and able to switch it out of bypass mode .. you when you are using the XLR you are getting 4volts out and getting the raw ,unfilter ,unprocess, uncolor, AKM DAC . which sounds amazing I have the topping L70 amp when hook to the ZH3 its some the best sound ive heard in long long time.. thats it thats all the cons if this unit .. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT OVER ANY PRODUCT THAT IS ON THE MARKET THAT IS UNDER $500.00..

For its price point, it's feature rich, I use it as a DAC/HPA on my computer powering Sennheiser HD 560S HP's...
It has native windows support which is nice.,..
