FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

One channel is louder than the other?

Make sure the balance knob is centered on the ZP3 and the input signal is balanced between the two channels.

What is the function of the Bypass switch?

It toggles tone control on/off. Slide up to bypass bass/treble; slide down to enable them. It doesn’t affect volume.

Can I switch between RCA and XLR output?

No. RCA and XLR outputs work at the same time and cannot be switched independently.

What is the function of the HPF adjustment?

It filters low frequencies, letting highs pass. The ZP3 offers 3 cutoff settings for different output frequency ranges.

Why is there no bass or the bass sounds weak?

Check if the HPF switch on the bottom is set to 20Hz–20kHz to avoid filtering out low frequencies. Also check if the bass knob is set too low.

Lots of options!

This is my first discrete pre-amp and there's a lot to take in here. I particularly like being able to use the balanced XLR cable option to connect my pair of ZA3 amps in mono mode and continuing the balanced set up to connect the preamp to my Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer. Still working through all the various options and really enjoying the Fosi gear, not to mention the absolutely outstanding customer service. Super fast responses to my questions. Couldn't be better!

Nice but...

I bought because of the XLR into Mono Block amps, that works well. I also wanted to have the trigger feature, works but slowly. My main issue is turning it on and off, I don’t use the remote because I already have 6 on the stand. Turning on and off the ZP3 is a hassle, Fosi Make the on=off the volume button, a push in.

Fosi Audio ZP3 Preamplifer

I have used this preamp just for a few days, connected to two Fosi Audio V3 monoblock power amps. The main source has been a Rega P3 turntable with the ND3 cartridge, using the Fosi Audio Box X5 phono preamp.

Compared to the previous all in one integrated amplifier the difference in audio quality is significant. The audio has much more clarity, and detail and the most obvious change for me, is the stereo image. The scene is far wider than before, and the instrument placement more distinct.

I cannot really say how much of this is because of the ZP3 and how much is because of the V3 monoblocks, since I could not test the ZP3 with my previous system, but I am really happy with the purchase.

There are two things that could be better though, at least for my use case.
First one, that is not very difficult to solve, is that the power cord is a bit too short, at least for my use case. It is a detachable cord though, so finding a replacement one if you need to, should not be very difficult.
The second thing is that there is no headphone support on the preamp, so the only way to have headphone connectivity is to use an amplifier that has a headphone output.

Much satisfied except one thing

The ZP3 was quite good for me overally but a user could not identify the minimum position of volume at the first time of operation. You must clarify how to do 'clearly' in your instruction. Otherwise very much satidfied and the low bright LED indication is also quite a good idea.
