One channel is louder than the other?

Make sure the balance knob is centered on the ZP3 and the input signal is balanced between the two channels.

What is the function of the Bypass switch?

It toggles tone control on/off. Slide up to bypass bass/treble; slide down to enable them. It doesn’t affect volume.

Can I switch between RCA and XLR output?

No. RCA and XLR outputs work at the same time and cannot be switched independently.

What is the function of the HPF adjustment?

It filters low frequencies, letting highs pass. The ZP3 offers 3 cutoff settings for different output frequency ranges.

Why is there no bass or the bass sounds weak?

Check if the HPF switch on the bottom is set to 20Hz–20kHz to avoid filtering out low frequencies. Also check if the bass knob is set too low.

A Gem, Op-AMPs rolling

For those audiophile, if you plan to use the Dual Staccato op-amp
it does not work with the ZP3.

Amazing

Running the ZH3 DAC into the ZP3 followed by dual ZA3’s in mono, Polk ES15’s and a Dayton powered sub. XLR connections and 12v switching. The sound is insane. Stick with neutral speakers like Polk, and you will hear music in your home in a way you likely have not before.

Un upgrade necessario

Ho acquistato il FOSI Audio ZP3 Preamplifier per sostituire il precedente FOSI P4 Mini Preamplifier in quanto ho espanso il mio impianto e avevo necessità di una uscita per il subwoofer attivo (FOSI SW10), che il piccolo P4 non aveva. Posso dire che la qualità generale del prodotto è ottima e in linea con gli standard a cui FOSI ci ha abituato. Per quanto riguarda la versatilità e funzionalità del prodotto ovviamente è quasi perfetto per le mie esigenze. Avrei preferito ci fosse anche un ingresso ottico, magari in alternativa all’ingresso bilanciato o comunque da selezionare con un commutatore sul retro. Per il resto la qualità del suono a mio avviso è molto simile al precedente P4 e, in considerazione del prezzo pagato mi reputo soddisfatto delle prestazioni fornite.

Secret Talent of the ZP3

What not many are talking about is how exceptional this preamp is at converting balanced to unbalanced and vice versa . I originally bought this for my main hifi but it added unvetted cables to my perfect synergy chain and ended up removing the ZP3. I almost sent it back when I tried it on my desktop system where I was using the streamer's DAC to feed desktop speakers. I used the ZP3 to pull balanced line out of my R2R headphone DAC to my speakers' single ended inputs. Subtle improvement, but that slight change was enough to make the sound more convincing and allowed my speakers to disappear so I can just hear the music like in my main system and headphones.

En combinación con una etapa Hegel H20 y unas cajas artesanas basadas en Davis Acustics y, como fuente Eversolo DMP A6 Máster Edición (Streamer, mini disc SONY, CD EMOTIVA) todo cableado balanceado. Resulta un conjunto medio alto, con una claridad, definición y profundidad que hace las delicias de cualquier audiophil.

- the preamplifier is "transparent" - with factory settings
- I don't use subwoofer - I left the high-pass filter open
- I connected two ZA3 amplifiers to the preamplifier using XLR - this is a very good set
- I use the eversolo DMP A-6 gen 2 as a source
- thanks to ZDA3 I could turn off the preamplifier in eversolo
- which gave a surprising effect
- now the sound is very juicy, powerful and direct
- and the operation of the set has become simpler and very traditional, simple and old-fashioned
- Since the ZDA3 has a high-pass filter, I am considering buying a subwoofer for my system
- this is the next stage

Redescubriendo los matices de mis CDs y lo malo es que descubres lo mal grabados que estan algunos de tus CDs en la colecion jajajajaj. proximamente lo conectare en alto y en bajo a un subwoofer. ya contare mi experiecia.

The ZP3 was an excellent upgrade for my setup. It was between the ZD3 and two ZA3s. The sound gained more strength and clarity in details. Controlling the bass and treble completes the system.

Works perfectly, my active speakers weren’t capable of driving a sub when connected to my fosi x5 preamp. Now i have the x5 feeding into the zp3 which drives my active bookshelf’s and sub perfectly and i am getting great bass response from all my vinyl. The inbuilt low pass, pass through or bass treble control and the ability to have multiple inputs and outputs plus a dedicated sub output make this little preamp very useful, it look pretty damn nice too!
