When the ZD3 is used with an LG TV, a bug in the LG TV system may cause issues with the HDMI-CEC function. Specifically, after turning off the TV with the power button or remote control, both the TV and ZD3 may automatically power back on after a short time. If you are using an LG TV, we recommend disabling the HDMI-CEC function. We are working hard to resolve this issue and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your understanding.

  • For RCA output, replace one op-amp. For XLR balanced output, replace two op-amps corresponding to the left and right channels.

Tools required: needle-nose pliers, tweezers, and an H2.0 hex screwdriver.

  1. Use the hex screwdriver to remove the two screws on either side of the rear panel.
  2. Remove the front panel knob, and with needle-nose pliers, unscrew the nut and washer from the potentiometer, then slide out the front panel.
  3. Disconnect the components near the notch of the circuit board by the front panel, which is connected to the Bypass mode switch.
  4. Carefully pull out the mainboard, and you will find three interchangeable op-amp chips.
  5. Replace one op-amp for RCA output and two for XLR output, corresponding to the left and right channels.
  6. Use tweezers to gently pry out the op-amp chip(s) from the side pin gap.
  7. Install the new op-amp chip(s) into the sockets. Ensure correct orientation by matching the '1' marking or the groove on the chip cover with the 'O1' position on the PCB. Incorrect installation may damage the op-amp.
  8. After installing the new op-amp(s), connect the amplifier, power, and speakers to test if the sound is working. If all is fine, reassemble the device.

ZD3

I have bought 4 ZA3s so far for my friends and they are all happy. Today I bought another one for myself to pair with 2 ZA3s, so far I have paired it with V3 monoblocks and in all combinations it sounds great, the sound is crystal clear, I am very happy. I recommend it with all my heart...

Nice little DAC - Benefits from some burn in

Nice products that works well in a dual-mono setting with the ZA3 amplifiers. Good design, small footprint.

Upgrade options are interesting, especially the use of a getter power supply.

I have not tried different op-amps yet, but am planning to do that.

But the standard op-amps provide a good out-of-the-box sound.

Nice-to-haves would be:

- dual 12V trigger out so that both amps in a dual-mono setting can be triggered. I am using a splitter to achieve the same thing
- this setup needs a source, and ideally a streamer. I am using my DIY Raspberry-Pi based streamer, but a matched-design box would certainly look good and provide a better looking solution
- the streamer would of course have network access and should therefore have a 12V trigger out, so that the whole chain can be switched on with software
- ideally the streamer would be Roon-Ready

unexpected, quality

I have to say that at first glance I wasn't very enthusiastic about it, in fact I wanted to return it for a refund. Then I changed the JRC opamps supplied and the sound quality improved a little. I decided to try a new opamp, the TI 6612, and the quality improved even more. So I decided to keep it, also because considering that it is truly complete with everything, balanced outputs xlr, rca, coax, optical, hdmi it's really versatile. now i'm very satisfied

HDMI Arc - a can of woorms

I got the HDMI to work, but it is a struggle (every time). No shame on Fosi Audio, but HDMI ARC is not a great technology/solution. To much hassle in most cases. Sad but true!
